Start by checking provenance, row grain, fields and units, missingness, repeated definitions, join risks, and whether the files can answer the question. Separate what the files show from the choices you recommend.

Propose a reversible cleaning and analysis plan and stop before any choice that changes the scientific meaning. After I approve it, create an analysis copy, run one defensible analysis, and make one useful figure or table. Reconcile the reported values with the calculation and state the assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, and unresolved risks. Do not invent data, hide exclusions, or make a causal claim the design cannot support.
